As a sister city of the municipality of La Trinidad, Miri City joined the celebration of the Strawberry Festival on March 18.
Adam Yii Siew Sang, municipal mayor of Miri City, Sarawak, Malaysia expressed his gratitude for being part of the strawberry festival celebration, specifically the civic parade, “owik tan tayao”, and the multicultural performances held at the Municipal Gym.
“The Strawberry Festival is more than just an event, it is a vibrant expression of La Trinidad’s rich agricultural heritage, culture, and community spirit” Sang stated. “From the iconic civic parade to the diverse multicultural activities, it is a festival that brings people together sharing the joy of your bountiful harvest and cultural traditions”, he added.
Sang also expressed his appreciation to the people of La Trinidad for their hospitality stating
that this strengthens the ties between the two municipalities.
It was recalled that La Trinidad and Miri City have been sisters for more than six years in which the Miri City mayor and Romeo Salda, La Trinidad mayor signed friendship ties in January 2020.
To deepen the relationship between La Trinidad and Miri City, Mayor Adam extended a warm welcome to the citizens of La Trinidad to visit Miri City on its 20th founding anniversary in May. By Rhealyn Charwin
