City officials recently requested the Management Information and Technology Division (MITD) under the City Mayor’s Office to submit to the local legislative body an accomplishment report, details of equipment purchased, memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Converge, services and information and other pertinent documents relative to the maintenance and operation of the city command center at the Baguio Convention Center for information and appropriate legislative measure.
Under Resolution No. 071, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the City Mayor’s Office has entrusted the MITD with the responsibility of overseeing the Smart City command center and plays a crucial role in enhancing the city’s technological and informational infrastructure thereby contributing to the overall progress of the city as a Smart City.
Earlier, the Smart City command center has emerged as the central hub for data analysis and decision-making in the city effectively serving as the city’s eyes and ears and it is operational 24/7 through failsafe mechanisms and back up connectivity plans ensuring the city’s commitment to data-driven good governance.
The command center was established through the assistance of the Office of the President that provided the initial funds used by the city government to purchase the initial equipment being used for the operation of the facility.
Further, the primary aim of the command center is to centralize and streamline all city operations, enabling swift and informed decision-making and responses to various situations.
By consolidating critical data and resources in one location, the body stipulated that the command center empowers the city authorities to proactively address the community’s needs and ensure efficient service delivery.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the concerned offices for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
