MANKAYAN, Benguet – Mankayan National High School (MNHS) was hailed over-all victor after accumulating a total of 134 points during the Mankayan District Science and Math Fair under the theme “Science and Mathematics for the People, Innovation for Collective Prosperity” at Bulalacao National High School, September 19.
Meanwhile, Lepanto National High School bagged the 2nd place with 130 points followed by Tabio with 106.5 points; Guinaoang National High School with 99 points secured the 4th place; Bulalacao National High School with 92 points ranked 5th; Balili National High School with 81 points earned the 6th place; Cabiten National High School with 79 points bagged the 7th place; then Bedbed National High School with 75.5 points.
Mankayan NHS dominated the board games like Damath and Sci-dama while Lepanto NHS ruled the quizzes (Math and Science).
The activity was graced by Councilor Balodoy M. Totanes and Irene L. Domogen who both encouraged the participants by with the message that “whatever will be the result, you are all winners.”
Only the first placer in every event will represent the district in the coming Division Science and Math Festival at Tublay School of Home Industries (TSHI)-Main on October 10-12.
On the other hand, competitors for the Science Investigatory Project (Life and Physical) and Mathematical Investigation (research-based and on-the-spot) will go straight to the said division festival.
The Division Math and Science Festival is an annual competition of talented students in the fields of Math and Science. The following activities that were planned for the fair include Math and Science Quiz Bee, Damath and Sci-Dama, Science Investigatory Project, Mathematical Investigation, and Strategic Intervention Material.
