TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The developer of the city’s modern market informed the local government that the facility will be operational by December in time for the Yuletide season while the central mall will also be ready by the first quarter of 2025.
Mayor Darwin C. Estran֮ero said that the Developer, Centro Mall, is awaiting the delivery to the city of the imported materials from Vietnam that will pave the way for the eventual construction of the modern market as the foundations of the structure had already been completed.
“The city is now slowly feeling the effect of the put up of the modern market and the construction of the central mall because of the numerous inquiries from interested investors wanting to establish their branches in the market and the mall,”” Mayor Estran֮ero stressed.
He claimed that executives of famous food chains, banks, chain of stores among others had already got in touch with the local government on how to establish their businesses in the city, especially with the put up of the central mall where they intend to operate their respective businesses.
The local chief executive pointed out that the initial operation of the modern market by December will provide a decent place for vendors to do their regular trade for the convenience of market goers.
Further, Mayor Estran֮ero underscored that the operation of both the modern market and the central mall will generate jobs for the residents because government agencies and local governments cannot absorb the people looking for gainful employment.
Initially, he stated that the developer assured him that the company will employ at least 500 workers aside from the employees that will be hired by the different businesses that will open their branches in the city in the future.
According to him, the dismantling of the structures erected within the property that will be occupied by the proposed central mall will start next month as the developer plans to work on the construction of the facility in time for its targeted completion and operation by the first part of 2025.
One of the facets of the modern market and central mall complex will be the establishment of the central terminal within the said area where public utility vehicles going and out of the city will be located for easier mobility of the people.
However, the mayor admitted that the feasibility study of the central terminal is that it will only be good for a 10-year period that is why the local government is looking for additional sites where the same will serve as an expansion to be able to accommodate the projected increase in the volume of vehicles going in and out of the city in the future.
“We have to be prepared for the influx of businesses and people to the city because of the potentials of the city’s progress. We are feeling the effects of the initial wave of development that is why the local government is doing its best to ensure its readiness once numerous types of businesses are existing in the city,” mayor Estran֮ero stressed.
Aside from being the rice granary of the Cordillera, Tabuk is being groomed by the Regional development Council (RDC) in the Cordillera to be the regional center in the future.
