BAGUIO CITY – The 22nd Baguio Flower Festival was recently launched at the Baguio City Hall grounds with the theme, “Inspired by Beauty, Nurtured by Nature”, focusing on the beauty of the event which has sustained the festival atmosphere for 22 years and at the same time protecting the environment.
During the press conference, ABC president councilor Michael Lawana disclosed that the 128 barangays will be joining the street dancing competition.
“I believe the barangays also have their skills and talents to showcase and at the same time contribute to the prestigious festival of this mountain resort,” said Lawana.
Apart from the participation in the street dancing, the barangays will be bringing back and revitalizing the roadside landscaping contest in the barangay level.
The different barangays will be able to demonstrate their creativity, resourcefulness and talents through the roadside landscaping contest, stressed Lawana.
With the city’s thrust in preserving the environment, the different barangays are doing their part in sustaining cleanliness in their respective jurisdiction and to further enhance their area, the barangays are encourage to identity a space for the roadside landscaping.
It is recalled that the barangays have been joining in the garden landscaping and roadside landscaping contest way back 2003 but it was not sustained.
Through the years, the cleanest and greenest barangay contest has been a part of the Baguio Flower Festival activities and with the revitalization of the roadside landscaping contest, it will further serve as an additional attraction to visitors and tourists advancing the city’s tourist industry, ended councilor Lawana.
