BONTOC, Mountain Province – Mountain Province is all set for the 58th Founding Anniversary and the 18th Lang-ay Festival.
The Philippine Information Agency–Mountain Province, in collaboration with the provincial government, through the Provincial Information Office (PIO), hosted a Kapihan sa Mountain Province on March 28, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol Conference Hall to inform the public about the scheduled activities throughout the twin celebration.
Provincial Planning and Events Management Team (PPEMT) Co-Chairperson Leonila Milagrose Malla-ao presented the lineup of activities planned for the twin celebration to various media representatives.
This year’s theme, “MP@58: Honoring Traditions and Reaching Greater Heights,” emphasizes the importance of showcasing and preserving Mountain Province’s rich culture, traditions, history, and products and ensuring their transmission to future generations.
Malla-ao highlighted that the festival serves as a platform for the community to unite to celebrate the shared heritage and identity, fostering a sense of belonging and pride.
Provincial Administrator John Likigan, representing Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr., extended an invitation to the public to participate in the various activities scheduled for the celebration. It is to be noted that most of the activities are to be held at the MPGCHS Covered Court/Eyeb Ground.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Carolyn Yawan announced a free Medical/Surgical Caravan, while Trade and Industry Development Specialist Aiza Apil from the Department of Trade and Industry-Mountain Province provided details about the Agro-Industrial Trade Fair, which will feature 92 exhibitors from Mountain Province and other regions.
Additionally, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Roger Sacyaten announced the groundbreaking of the four-story Provincial Tourism Cultural and Arts Museum Building, funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, coinciding with the Lang-ay Festival.
PCOL Ferdinand Oydoc, Provincial Director of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, represented by PLTCOL Rafael Supa and PLTCOL Apdilon Galong, assured attendees of their commitment to maintaining safety throughout the celebrations.
Media representatives from PIA-Mountain Province led by Information Officer Valerie Jane Taguba, PIO headed by Provincial Information Officer Novy Afidchao, Radyo Pilipinas – Bontoc headed by Station Manager Donna Balio, Sagada Community Media Network, Inc. led by Station Manager Gwendolyn Gay Gaongen, and the Bontoc municipal government Information Office were present at the Kapihan sa Mountain Province.
