BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial government is poised to receive its fourth Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award this year after achieving promising results during the recently concluded SGLG national validation for CY 2024 held at the Bayle Hotel and Restaurant, Sac-angan, Caluttit, Bontoc on September 18, 2024.
While the validation took place this year, the validation covered documents submitted and accomplished in 2023. The national assessment team was composed of two local government operations officers from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao Irene T. Abdula and Tohammi M. Abas.
Both validators received a warm welcome from Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr during his opening remarks.
“We extend our heartfelt welcome to you, Ma’am Irene and Sir Tohammi. Your presence here today means a great deal and we are deeply grateful for the time and effort you dedicated to traveling from south to north to join us for this significant event,” Lacwasan said.
The provincial government was assessed based on ten governance areas which are: financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; safety, peace, and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development; culture and the arts; and youth development.
The national validation for the provincial government concluded with a promising result and commendation from the validators who said that they will recommend the provincial government as SGLG passer to the CGLG.
“The provincial government of Mountain Province will be recommended as passer. Meron lang po tayong final na pagdadaanan, yung sinabi ni sir Tom na presentation of results to the CGLG. Sa kanila po manggagaling yung final decision kung who will be included in their final list of SGLG passers,” Abdula said.
In closing, Provincial Administrator Franklin C. Odsey lauded the collective efforts of the provincial government employees and officials. On behalf of the provincial government, Odsey also expressed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the DILG-MP headed by its Provincial Director, Evelyn B. Trinidad, for their steadfast support and expert guidance.
