BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC) of Mountain Province is set to undergo the MELPPI Pro pre assessment for CY 2024 on June 3, 2025.
The MELPPI Pro, which stands for Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol, is a tool developed by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) to evaluate the effectiveness of local government nutrition programs and track their progress in enhancing nutrition outcomes.
According to Nutrition Council District Nutrition Program Coordinator and Nutritionist Dietician III Mary Dianne S. Monte, the MELPPI Pro assessment form is composed of six dimensions that need to be met. These dimensions include the PNC vision and mission (dimension one), nutrition policies and laws (dimension two), governance and organization structure (dimension three), local nutrition committee management function (dimension four), nutrition interventions/services (dimension five), and changes in the nutritional status in the local government unit (dimension six).
Dimensions one to four altogether hold 60% of the total rating while dimensions five and six hold 10% and 30%, respectively.
Last year, 2024, the PNC achieved a MELPPI Pro assessment rating of 86.77%. This allowed the council to emerge as a 2024 Green Banner Seal of Compliance awardee. According to Monte, the PNC of Mountain Province should be able to achieve a rating higher than 86.77% this year in order to maintain its Green Banner Seal of Compliance.
During the PNC’s first quarter meeting at the Provincial Health Office Conference Hall on March 20, 2025, the council carried out a self-assessment to evaluate which criteria in each dimension were achieved and which were not. The assessment paved the way for the PNC to have a comprehensive review on its progress against predefined goals. By MP-PIO
