BONTOC, Mountain Province – Kalinga Rep. and newly appointed Mountain Province caretaker Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang called on the local officials and the people of this landlocked province for their support and active involvement in the implementation of the unimplemented programs, projects and advocacies of the late Rep. Maximo Dalog, Sr. to sustain the overall growth and development of the province.
Mangaoang, who was recently appointed by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez as caretaker congressman of Mountain Province, said that he will immediately consult with the local officials of the province the priority programs and projects that will be implemented and the road map that will be observed to make sure that their sentiments will be part of the solutions that will be put in place while he will be service as the caretaker.
“WE had been in constant communication with the late Rep. Dalog while he was healthy that is why we are aware of his strong legislative agenda, his priority programs, projects and advocacies that he wants to be implemented in Mountain Province that is why we will follow the same in consultation with the local officials of the province,” Mangaoang stressed.
The appointment of Rep. Mangaoang as the Mountain Province caretaker congressman put an end to the brewing debate among a few local officials and ordinary citizens relative to the filling up of the position vacated by Rep. Dalog, who succumbed to failed kidney ailment early last month.
Mangaoang expressed his gratitude to Dalog’s family and the people and officials of Mountain Province for supporting his appointment as caretaker congressman, saying that as a son of Mountain Province, whose mother hails from Sagada, he will exert whatever needed efforts to guarantee the implementation of the province’s priority programs and projects to help spur economic growth.
According to him, Kalinga and Mountain Province are adjacent to each other and the needs of the people are almost the same that is why it will not be difficult for him to adjust to the situation where he is in now, the duly elected representative of Kalinga and caretaker congressman of Mountain Province.
Mangaoang will be serving as the province’s second caretaker congressman after former Kalinga Rep. Manuel S. Agyao, who also served as Mountain Province’s caretaker congressman in February 2008 to June 30, 2010, after the late Victor S. Dominguez succumbed to cardiac arrest.
Mangoang admitted Rep. Dalog was his mentor in his over a year term as Kalinga congressman and he was able to learn a lot in terms of legislation and the sourcing out of funds from concerned government agencies to be used in the development of their own legislative districts, thus, he will always take the queue from his learnings as a neophyte member of the House of Representatives.
He claimed he will visit Mountain Province anytime as soon as he will be provided with his appointment papers to consult with the local officials on the next step to do to sustain the overall development of the province.
