BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Provincial Government, through its Mountain Province Agricultural and Fisheries Extension Center, conducted a three-day Civil 3D Training for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers of Mountain Province held on August 27-29, 2024 in the capital town.
The training aimed to improve the design quality and drawing precision of agricultural infrastructure projects using upgraded engineering software or application. Learning Civil 3D software offers numerous benefits for engineers and surveyors involved in designing, planning, and mapping projects as the software is a powerful tool for creating, editing, and viewing civil engineering drawings.
According to the Office of the Provincial Agricultural and Biosystems Engineer (OPABE) Head, Engr. Winston D. Bayden, engineers must learn to use the software because it enhances design quality and drawing accuracy. He said that becoming proficient in the software will improve the work quality, will save time and money, and will offer a competitive advantage in the field of expertise since it is a crucial tool for modern engineering practices.
During the opening program, Executive Assistant Ernesto B. Bondad, representing Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., said that with the establishment of the OPABE and the creation of Agricultural and Biosystems positions in the several municipalities, it is crucial to equip them with the latest engineering software to further improve their services and meet the demands of their roles, particularly in preparing detailed engineering designs.
Mountain Province Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer Pedro C. Pinos-an in his message, acknowledged the efforts of the provincial officials for establishing the OPABE, the first in the Cordillera Region and the whole country, which is a key in the further development of agricultural industry in the province.
He said that training is very important because the participants have a significant role in making sure that the projects to be implemented in the province will surely benefit the local farmers for the efficient production of local crops and livestock.
Moreover, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist Officer-In-Charge Mary Jane S. Tumapang recalled that the activity is among the series of training that was conducted for the agricultural and biosystems engineers since last year by the Provincial Government, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture through the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System.
Also, in attendance to express their support for the activity were PAFES PMG Chair and Provincial Planning and Development Officer Daniel K. Likigan and Chantal Santoen, representing Board Member Ezra Samson A. Gomez.
Meanwhile, the resource persons for the whole duration of the activity were Engr. Brendo S. Bantawan of the Bauko Municipal Assessor’s Office and Engr. Jerome S. Calixto of the KIJE Geodetic Surveying Office.
The training went smoothly with a series of lectures and workshops, surveying of a proposed project, presentations and critiquing of outputs, and preparations of re-entry plans. By Hail, MP
