BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial government, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), is currently conducting a disaster preparedness and search, rescue and retrieval operations training that will run from March 3-9, 2025.
The ongoing activity is being held at the Leonard G. Mayaen Sports Complex, Poblacion and is participated in by personnel from the Mountain Province Provincial Police Office, 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the municipal police stations of Sagada, Bontoc, Sadanga.
The training is being facilitated by staff from the PDRRMO Pablo III A. Bagwan, Sohrab O. Mi-ing, and Crismar P. Farnican, Provincial Health Office and Bontoc General Hospital Staff, Senior Health Program Officer Nestor A. Gao-an, nurses Denver Puyao and Dylan Dale Patingan, volunteers from the Sagada Emergency Response Volunteer Society Dhenver Lagasi and Baderno Badongen, Phil. Red Cross Donor Recruitment Officer Florita A. Sacgaca, Phil. Red Cross CSR for Safety Services Carmela T. Pucay, Bureau of Fire Protection staff SFO1 Efrain L. Ngade, FO2 Perfecto Angel K. Agwaking, PSSO SG III Denver F. Chakas and PIO AAII John Alan C. Yog-a.
According to Bagwan, the training is a pre-emptive activity that establishes a state of readiness to respond to extreme events that could affect the community and through planning, training, equipping and exercising the emergency response of the participants it establishes organizational readiness to minimize the adverse impact of these events by means of active responses to protect the health and safety of individuals.
In addition, Farnican expressed his optimism that after training, the participants from the police force of Mountain Province will enhance their preparedness as public safety service providers, most especially during emergency situations as they are usually the first responders during crisis or emergency situations, whether threat, uncertainty or insurgency situations.
Meanwhile, Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. expressed his gratitude to the coordinators, facilitators and participants for the success of the training.
