BONTOC, Mountain Province – Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. underscored, during his 2025 State of the Province Address, the need to raise the rate of fully immunized children (FIC) in Mountain Province (MP) and households with access to safe drinking water this 2025.
As of November, 2024, the immunization coverage of children in MP was at 62.65%. This was an indicator in the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) assessment, under the Health Compliance and Responsiveness, which the provincial government came short last year, 2024.
Lacwasan mentioned that the provincial government wishes to increase the immunization coverage of MP to at least 95% this 2025 by encouraging the active participation and involvement of parents.
“As your Governor, I urge every parent to help advocate among families the need for immunization.
There is a need to raise our immunization coverage to at least 95% if not 100% for a safer MP. Daytuy bakuna ket pagsayaatan ti annak wenno ap-apo tayo. We must not lose lives due to diseases that are easily preventable,” he said.
Meanwhile, another indicator which the provincial government fell short of under the same SGLG area was the indicator that states, “62.5% of households with access to safely managed drinking water services.” As the provincial government’s mechanism to address this, the governor also said during his SOPA that last year, 2024, the provincial government, through its Provincial Engineering Office, has started implementing the amount of 8.5 million pesos for the enhancement water systems, leading to more households gaining access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation services.
In addition, the Provincial Health Office has also crafted the Provincial Health Board Resolution No. 08, s. 2024, which is a resolution adopting the provisions of Presidential Decree no. 856 or the Code on Sanitation of the Philippines. By Hail, MP
