PARACELIS, Mountain Province – The provincial government, in partnership with the Schools Division Office of Mountain Province (SDO-MP) of the Department of Education (DepEd) organized a “Home and School: Symposium for a Better Tomorrow” activity for all school officers, including class officers, homeroom officers, officers of different student organizations, and officers of parents and teachers associations (PTAs) of secondary schools. The event was held at the Corn Feed Mill Hall in Sinigpit, Palitud, Paracelis, and aimed to equip education implementers and stakeholders with important updates and information concerning the impact of education on the holistic development of iMontanosa learners, who will become future leaders.
According to Community Affairs Officer Maria Nelda A. Lo, the activity was initiated by the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr. to reinforce the role of parents and learners and provide them with essential updates on education.
During the opening program, Sangguniang Bayan Andrew Pudlao, who represented Paracelis Mayor Marcos G. Ayangwa, expressed his gratitude to the provincial government and DepEd for conducting the activity in their place.
He also advised the participants, especially the students, to avoid bad habits and vices while young, for a better future.
The activity featured a series of lectures and discussions by experts in different fields. MPENRO Laine Hiadan talked about solid waste management, especially on how to segregate biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. Executive Assistant Ernesto Bondad discussed Responsible Parenting to attain quality education and shared the message of Gov. ] Lacwasan Jr. on the importance of supporting education.
“Our governor wants to further improve the quality of education in our town. He believes that education is full of challenges, but we have to take them for us to achieve our dreams. Also, education can change you as a person, and the governor believes that continuing support for education is crucial in helping the province’s constituents in their learning,” he said.
Moreover, SDO-MP speakers Renalyn Codod and senior education program specialist Sonia Batnag discussed Mental Health Awareness and Strengthening Partnership for Education under SDO-MP’s Salidumay Partnership Program, respectively. Executive Assistant June C. Pinayakan discussed the protection of children vis-à-vis the right to be disciplined by adults.
Meanwhile, Board Member Federico E. Onsat encouraged the students to do their best in school for their better future. Public Schools District Supervisor Paracelis North Wilfredo L. Domong-as expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for spearheading the program to help students improve their skills and knowledge.
Vice Governor Francis Tauli was represented by Local Legislative Staff Assistant Melarene P. Ilacad, who delivered his message.
