BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Provincial Government, through its Mountain Province Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Center (MPAFEC), conducted a four-day capability development training on how to do a feasibility study at the Archog Hotel Conference Hall in the capital town on August 13-16, 2024.
The activity was actively participated in by agriculture and fisheries extension workers and provincial and municipal planning and development coordinators from the different local government units in MP.
As stated in the activity design, the training aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills they need to prepare a feasibility study. In addition, the conduct of the training was in compliance with the enactment of the Executive Order No. 138, which resulted in the devolution of certain functions, such as the agri-fishery services of the executive branch to the local government units.
According to MPAFEC in-Charge and Provincial Veterinarian Rodelio B. Bagawi, the training is relevant and important for the participants to be able to determine the data on the production cost of agricultural commodities in their respective municipality.
Executive Assistant Ernesto B. Bondad, representing Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., and Board Member Ezra Samson A. Gomez, the Chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s Committee on Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, graced the opening program with their representative messages.
Bondad pointed out that great things happen by creating opportunities, such as the training, for others to improve themselves and enrich their knowledge and skills.
Furthermore, Gomez expressed his optimism that the training will equip the participants on the ways of planning and assessing how their respective office can sufficiently implement priority projects for the agriculture and fishery sector of the province.
Meanwhile, the lectures and workshops on the fundamentals and elements of a feasibility study and its financial and accounting aspects were facilitated by Benguet State University (BSU)-College of Agriculture Faculty Jenifer P. Domolog and BSU-College of Home Economics and Technology Faculty Jeftee B. Pinos-an. Both speakers guided the participants in making a feasibility study for their respective project proposal.
