BAGUIO CITY – Earlier today, representatives from various sectors of the Cordillera gathered for the kick-off activity of the 37th Cordillera Month Celebration with the theme, “Multiculturalism towards Regional Autonomy and Development.”
The day began with a parade that started at the lower Session Road and ended at the program venue, the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.
Representing Mountain Province at the event were Vice Governor Francis O. Tauli, Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members Johnson D. Bantog II, Joshua B. Fronda, Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Ken Paulo P. Nacnas, SP Provincial Government Assistant Department Head Andrew Magwilang, Provincial Legal Officer Tomas A. Kiwang, Jr., former DA Regional Executive Director Cameron P. Odsey, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College President Edgar G. Cue and others.
In his video message played during the program, Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. reminded everyone that the region was created in preparation for the establishment of an Autonomous Region of Cordillera.
“Let us continue to advocate for Autonomy that is driven by a vision of progress, unity, and cultural diversity. Our beautiful Cordillera region is a tapestry woven from the threads of various indigenous communities, each with its unique traditions, languages, and ways of life. It is this rich multicultural fabric that we must celebrate and nurture as we move towards autonomy,” Lacwasan said. By HENT
