BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Mountain Province has deployed a Search and Rescue (SAR) team to assist in the ongoing search and retrieval operations for a drowning victim in the Chico River in Sabangan earlier today, 25 October 2024.
Prior to their SAR operation, the team had briefing with Sabangan Mayor Marcial C. Lawilao, Jr., the head of the Incident Command Post (ICP) established by the Sabangan Municipal DRRMC at the covered court in Poblacion, Sabangan.
In his meeting with PDRRMC members yesterday, 24 October 2024, Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. directed PDRRM Officer Edward F. Chumawar, Jr. for his office to immediately provide logistical support, coordinate with trained SAR members from concerned agencies to support the ongoing search and rescue operation in Sabangan.
Also, the Governor instructed the PDRRM Office to coordinate with local government units along the Chico River to aid in the ongoing search efforts.
On the deployment of the SAR Team, PDRRMO Chumawar said that the primary focus of the SAR remains on locating the victim while ensuring the safety of all responders involved in the search and rescue operations. By John Alan C. Yog-a
