LAS PIÑAS – The Mountain Province Shotokan Karate Club, an affiliate of Shin-Shin Karatedo Inc., made a remarkable impact at the recently concluded 2nd Elinon Karatedo Academy (EKA) Karatedo Championships held at Robinson’s Mall in Las Piñas on October 13, 2024.
The club’s delegation of four players and their coach secured a total of 17 medals – five golds, eight silvers, and four bronzes.
The karate event involved over 1,200 participants from 37 teams, including powerhouse competitors from the National Capital Region.
In the team’s performance, Denise Avery Paredes excelled in the 8-9 year old females’ intermediate, advance, and open kata categories. She earned a total of three gold medals. She also claimed a silver medal in intermediate kumite and a bronze in open kumite, demonstrating her exceptional talent against tough competition.
In addition, Rhassel Ted Aldea won a gold medal in the 12-13 males’ open kata category and a silver medal in intermediate kumite. Meanwhile, Kastielle Clementeen Patingan garnered a silver medal in the 12-13 females’ kumite and bronze medals in both advanced kata and open kata categories.
Moreover, the trio of Denise, Rhassel, and Kastielle claimed a silver medal in the 13-15 open kata category. Alchemist Gleyn P. Mader-an also made his mark with a silver medal in the 8-9 males’ advance kata, another silver medal in intermediate kumite, and a bronze medal in open kumite.
Meanwhile, the club’s instructor and playing coach Alsannyster F. Patingan won the gold medal in the master’s kata category.
According to the playing coach, the club expresses profound gratitude to the provincial government of Mountain Province, the municipal government of Bontoc, and All Saints’ Credit Cooperative, Incorporated for their support. Additionally, the club also expresses its heartfelt thanks to the supportive parents, players, and the entire community who have rallied behind the team.
