BONTOC, Mountain Province – Mountain Province culminated the celebration of the 2025 Nation Bible Month with a program at the Governor Leonard G. Mayaen Sports Center on January 30, 2025.
The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Government, together with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Lifting Everyone, Nurturing the Faith, and Guiding Souls Altruistically to God (LENG-AG) Group.
This year’s National Bible Month was focused on the theme, “Nan Kalin Apo Dios Isnan Biagtako.”
According to Local Governance Operations Officer VII Samson L. Appoy and Pastor Eliseo B. Kiser, the observance of the National Bible Month is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 124, s. 2017, which declares January of every year as the National Bible Month, and the last week of January as the National Bible Week and DILG Memo Circular 2017-111, which enjoins all local government officials and DILG directors to support the advocacy of moral development among the Filipino people through the transforming power of the Word of God – the Bible.
In support of the said issuances, Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. said in his message that the Provincial Government will have its own adoption of the Presidential Proclamation 124, s. 2017 and DILG MC 2017-111 in order to officially institutionalize the celebration of the National Bible Month.
“Itultuloy tako ay manbasa isnan biblia tako; not only to refresh our spiritual growth but to guide us in our everyday life,” the Governor added as an encouragement to the participants.
Meanwhile, the Bible exhortation during the program was delivered by Reverend (Rev.) Edwin Ayabo, who talked about three things about love that anyone can live by. These are love for God, love for neighbours, and lastly, love towards enemies.
