BONTOC, Mountain Province – A group of students from the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS) who emerged as the champion in the Regional PhilHealth Reel Making Competition received a P10,000 cash incentive from the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) during the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on August 19, 2024, at the Municipal Capitol grounds
The students who were honored for their outstanding performance are Rhizil Yhvaine Fagyan, Kymmus Flor Filog, Tisha Arcell Soliman, Jerzon Chakas, Cheyan Pine Fawagan, Cris Maganon, Precious Gem Tuazon, and Princess Kaye Sabdao. They were accompanied by their coach, Roselyn Molina, who received 10% of the cash incentive received by the group, which is equivalent to P1,000.
The event, themed “NAG 4MKNB? (Magparehistro, Magbayad ng Kontribusyon, Mag-update ng Record, at Magpabawas ng benepisyo),” aimed to enhance youth awareness of the National Insurance Program and healthcare services.
The cash incentive of the group and their Certificates of Commendation were handed over by Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Municipal Federation President Mark Brandford Andaya. The prompt processing of the cash incentives of the group along with their coach, was facilitated by Local Youth Development Officer III Ross Kiat-ong.
On behalf of Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., Vice Mayor Kabluyen commended the students and their coach for their accomplishment, and encouraged them to further develop their talents and seek additional competitive opportunities in local and even abroad.
Kabluyen lauded the students for making use of their skills in producing informative, creative and educational reels as partners of the government in the wide dissemination of information on the UHC, PhilHealth new and expanded benefits, Konsulta programs, and other services.
Meanwhile, the said group of students will represent the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) at the national level during the 30th Anniversary of PhilHealth on February 14, 2025.
It is to be noted that the provision of cash rewards to those who excel in sports and academics in regional, national, and international competitions is guided under Municipal Ordinance No. 381, S. 2023.
For individual competitions, the incentives are as follows: At the regional level, gold medalists receive P5,000, while silver medalists are awarded P3,000, and bronze medalists receive P2,000. In national competitions, these incentives significantly increase, with gold medalists earning P10,000, silver medalists P7,000, and bronze medalists P5,000. International competitions, spanning ASEAN, Asian, and World levels, offer varying incentives. For instance, gold medalists in the ASEAN category receive PHP 15,000, silver medalists P10,000, and bronze medalists P5,000. The rewards for the Asian category are even higher, with gold medalists earning P30,000, silver medalists P15,000, and bronze medalists P10,000. The World category tops the list, with gold medalists receiving P100,000, silver medalists P50,000, and bronze medalists P30,000.
This ordinance recognizes the valuable contribution of coaches and trainers who play a pivotal role in nurturing the skills and talents of these high-achieving individuals. Coaches and trainers will receive 10% of the financial incentives awarded to the winners for regional and national competitions. For international or world competitions, they will receive 20% of the financial incentives.
For paired or group competitions, the incentives follow a similar structure.
At the regional level, gold medalists can earn up to P10,000, with silver and bronze medalists receiving P7,000 and P5,000, respectively. National competitions offer increased incentives, with gold medalists receiving P15,000, silver medalists P10,000, and bronze medalists P7,000. International competitions, spanning ASEAN, Asian, and World levels, offer substantial rewards. For example, gold medalists in the ASEAN category can receive P20,000, while silver medalists are granted P15,000, and bronze medalists P10,000. In the Asian category, gold medalists receive P50,000, silver medalists P25,000, and bronze medalists P20,000.
