BONTOC, Mt. Province – The Mountain Province Shotokan Karate Club (MPSKC) team led by Sensei Leonardo P. Abuggao Jr., delegation head, along with Sensei Alsannyster Patingan, proudly participated in MKKPI Karate Championship-All Luzon 2024.
The highly anticipated tournament was held at Robinson’s Gapan, Nueva Ecija on September 28-29, 2024. Competing against 24 fierce teams from across Luzon, the MPSKC showcased an exceptional skill and determination, earning the prestigious 2nd Runner Up Overall Championship Award. The team achieved an impressive haul of 22 golds, 10 silver and 26 bronze medals across various categories.
The event featured divisions such as Novice Kata, Novice Kumite, Intermediate Kata, Intermediate Kumite, Advance Kata, Advance Kumite, Open Kata and Kumite and Team kata. Each category demanded the utmost discipline, technical precision and mental fortitude which the MPSKC team demonstrated to the fullest.
In addition to the athletes’ outstanding achievement, the team’s senseis also performed remarkably well. Sensei Patingan claimed gold in the Kumite event and bronze in the Kata event while Sensei Abuggao secured a silver medal in the Kata event.
Adding to their accolades, the MPSKC received a special award for Most Number of Entries which is a testament to their dedication to growing their team and nurturing a new generation of karatekas.
The MKPPI Championship-All Luzon 2024 was a battleground of highly skilled opponents. Despite facing formidable competitors, the MPSKC team stood their ground and delivered exceptional performances.
This tournament will be remembered as a milestone for the MPSKC, marking their progress and setting the stage for even greater achievements in future competitions.
