ITOGONA, Benguet – A 7-year old boy died while his 10year old brother suffered minor injuries after a mudslide caused the roof of their residence to cave in and hit them while having dinner at sitio Diyang, Luacan, here, Saturday.
Chief Inspector Eugene Raymundo, chief of the Itogon Municipal Police Station, identified the fatality as Regie Ayusan Ciano, 7 while he named his injured brother as Oliver Ayusan Ciano, 10, both residence of Diyang, Luacan, Itogon, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the 8 members of the family were having dinner in the dining area of their residence at the height of the strong rains when a mudslide that came from the mountain slope hit their roof that was allegedly made up of light materials and caused it to cave in hitting the victim and his older brother.
The other six members of the family were reportedly unhurt during the said incident.
The victim was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while his older brother was given the appropriate treatment for the minor injuries that he sustained.
The remains of the victim was brought to the residence of his grandmother which is located near the area for him to be given the necessary wake and burial.
