The ongoing Alfonso Lista Pump Irrigation Project (ALPIP), one of the big ticket multi-year projects of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in the province of Ifugao will get a budget allocation of P 411 million for 2019.
The ALPIP is programmed to irrigate about 2,300 hectares of agricultural land in the four barangays of Sto. Domingo, Calupaan, Namillangan, Namnama, in Alfonso Lista, Ifugao with about 1,300 farmer-beneficiaries.
According to Benito Espique Jr., Regional Manager of NIA-CAR, the transbasin tunnel with the length of 512 meters will pump water from the reservoir of Magat Dam. Among the other project components are pump house, diversion canal, irrigation facilities and its appurtenant structures.
Randymar Cascolan, Project Team Leader of ALPIP, for CY 2019, said that the P411 million program of work will include installation of pump motors, bulbs, discharged and its appurtenant structures. This, however, is currently under procurement at the NIA-Central Office.
Among the challenges the implementing agency encountered at present is the banning of explosive devices in line with the election gun ban. The explosive devices will be used to construct the transbasin tunnel which will convey water from the pump house to the diversion canal.
