BONTOC, Mountain Province – National and local officials unanimously voiced their full support to the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) for its aspirations to become a state university during the 31st Charter Anniversary of the college recently.

Both the guest of honor and speaker, Senator Francis Tolentino and inspirational speaker, Director Manuel Golez III, who represented Deputy Executive Secretary Amante Liberato of the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration (ODESFA) under the Office of the President expressed optimism that MPSPC would achieve its university status with the collective efforts of political leaders, academic officials, and community stakeholders.

Senator Tolentino in his message lauded the college for its capabilities to manage its educational objective despite the limited resources and the challenges caused by the pandemic.

“MPSPC has indeed changed the lives of its students by letting them grow and making them  realize their own potential through quality education and character building,” the senator added.

Golez who traces his roots to Sagada and Besao, Mountain Province mentioned that his presence on the occasion manifests the support of the Office of the President in the objective of converting MPSPC into a state university. He remarked that it is the best time to get all hands on deck on the realization of universityhood with the back-up from fellow Cordillerans at the national level.

Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., lauded the MPSPC for all its incredible accomplishments.

Tudlong said that the college continues to shine in the field of education, especially with its scholastic achievements producing graduates passing with grades above-average rate, and even producing topnotchers.

“MPSPC made a difference in the lives of its students and the community through years of learning, research, and community outreach. It is a manifestation that the College committed itself and its services to meet the expectations of international standards”, the mayor emphasized.

Congressional district representative Maximo Dalog, Jr., highlighted the importance of collective efforts to pursue the dream of transforming MPSPC into a state university.

“It is important for us to coordinate, collaborate and work together for the advancement of this lone institution in Mountain Province. I challenge all of us to walk the talk as we actively display our support and continue realizing the aspirations of becoming a full-fledged state university. For we can only attain this, if we are truly willing, serious and steadfast to achieve our goals so that we will be able to finish our assignment on time,” Dalog emphasized.

Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr., mentioned that this year’s charter anniversary of the college marks the MPSPC’s accomplishments and struggles for the past 31 years.

“It is time to unite and pool all our efforts together. It is time to rally behind a united purpose. Let personal differences create a work environment that will bring out the best from everyone,” the governor said.

MPSPC Board of Trustees member Commissioner Marita Canapi, in her message relayed by MPSPC Vice President for Academic Affairs Mark Preston Lopez recognized the commitment in providing quality education.

“In the past five years, three of which were years of challenged times brought by the pandemic, MPSPC managed to keep up with the times along the four-fold foundation of this educational institution,” she added.

MPSPC President Edgar Cue expressed his gratitude to everyone for their unending support to the academe.

Aside from the above personalities, also present during the occasion were mayors from the different municipalities, other guests from regional and national agencies, MPSPC faculty, staff, and students, and other stakeholders.

This year’s theme is, “Pursuing the Dream: Fortifying Efforts for MPSPC’s Transformation into a State University.”
