BAGUIO CITY – As part of its efforts to institutionalize its engagement and assistance to non-government stakeholders, the NEDA Regional Office in the Cordillera Administrative Region (NEDA CAR) conducted a lecture on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the faculty members of the Easter College on September 4, 2024 at Easter College, Baguio City.
NEDA CAR presented the overview of the 17 SDGs including the global, national and regional targets to the faculty members of the institution, highlighting Goal 4 on Quality Education with the targets and possible interventions to be undertaken by the school based on their academic programs, and research and development initiatives.
The one-day activity also included lectures on the SDG Pace of Progress by the Philippine Statistics Authority Cordillera and orientation on Volunteering for Development by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency.
Jessica W. Balag-ey, Research Development and Extension Officer, expressed appreciation on behalf of Easter College and committed to integrate their learnings and anchor the different school programs and activities on the SDGs.
Easter College is one of the pioneer higher educational institutions in the Cordillera founded in 1906 by Anglican missionaries from the United States of America. Presently, it offers special education for children, basic education program from Pre-school to senior high school and tertiary education in the fields of nursing, teacher education, hospitality and business management, criminal justice and marketing and communication.
Nearing the 2030 deadline towards achieving the SDGs, NEDA CAR, as the Secretariat of the Regional Committee on the Sustainable Development Goals is tasked by the Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR), through RDC-CAR Resolution No. 36 series of 2020, to facilitate stakeholder partnerships and coordinate the implementation of SDGs.
