BONTOC, Mountain Province – About 45 newly hired employees of the provincial government for the month of January 2024 to June 2024 underwent a three-day orientation program for new employees at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Provincial Plaza at the Poblacion on July 10-12, 2024.
The provincial government through the Office of the Provincial Human Resources Management Officer spearheaded the orientation in compliance to the Civil Service Commissions (CSC), Omnibus Rule Implementing Book V of Executive Order 292 and other Pertinent Civil Service Laws, Section 7 and CSC MC s. 2020, requiring all new entrants in the government service to undergo the Orientation and Values Development Programs and to promote mental health in the workplace.
According to Provincial Human Resource Management Officer Leonila Milagrose F. Malla-ao, the activity enables the newly hired personnel to access basic information, programs, services and other relevant knowledge about the provincial government with the intention of encouraging employees and providing them with the tools and motivation to perform and become active and responsible members in the attainment of the goals of province.
In addition, she said that it aims to contribute to aligning the employees’ personal values to ensure that their efforts to make themselves better will also rebound in the achievement of the province’s goals.
“The activity aims to enable the participants to gain awareness of their personal values and how these affect the way they interact with other people and perform their work, understand and comprehend what mental health is, how to handle mental health, and how to manage stress in the workplace and help in promoting mental health awareness,” she added.
In his message, Provincial Administrator Franklin C. Odsey challenged the participants to proceed with renewed vigor and commitment to upholding the highest standard of public service guided by a shared commitment to integrity, professionalism, and ethical governance.
“These, among others, foster excellence and resilience among employees in their workplace,” he said.
During the activity, Nutritionist-Dietician Mary Dianne S. Monte from the Office of the Provincial Health Officer gave a lecture on Breastfeeding Program in the Workplace on the third day of the event with an open forum for the participants to ask questions and interact on the topics discussed. Other topics and activities were general information about your workplace, what the agency gives you (monetary benefits and non-monetary benefits), what you can give in return, positivity in the workplace, and renewal of vows.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Provincial Human Resources Management Office introduced different types of exercises, workshops, team building, and wellness activities with pre – and post assessments to motivate, challenge, and involve everyone in participating actively. By Hail, MP
