Thousands of new years have passed and people all around the world had been pinning their hopes for a brighter future. Everyone deserves to live a descent life but a greater number of the global population remain marginalized not for their destiny but for their inability to help themselves most of the time. Although there are some people that were blessed because of the current status of their families among others, there are people who are simply not blessed and continue to suffer from poverty and hunger. Numerous studies have been undertaken by experts on what were the causes of poverty and hunger and it has been time and again proven that the primary cause of such social problems in the global village.

The coming of a new year is the blessings of new hope for everyone. However, it should not only be hope that matters but people should strive for the best to achieve whatever their targeted goals and objectives in life. While we have our own God-given destinies, we should not rely on divine intervention to reach our drams but let us continue to further improve on our gains over the previous years. It had also been said that most people are not satisfied with the blessings that they have that is why they resort to enterprising and illegal activities in order to enrich themselves at the expense of others. Some have lost their hopes in life and have left their future to whatever that comes to them daily while others really have the luck to achieve their goals in life.

The coming of the new year also comes with the so-called new year’s resolutions, either individual or collective, which usually end up to be just for the start but as the days pass by in the new year, people most often than not go back to their usual way of living as if the supposed resolution was not a commitment for one to improve on what he had done wrong in the past. Well, we have to fully understand that what we were accustomed with cannot be easily change that is why we need the will power to change and make a difference in ourselves, in our families, in the communities where we belong and eventually our country. Changing for the sake of our country is too ambitious on the part of an individual but there is nothing wrong if one dreams to institute change in a broader spectrum. For a start, it is still best for us to change for the better, then start contaminating others and we will surely make a difference in our communities some day but not overnight.

Many people want change to be instituted in their communities but the problem is that those advocating for change are mere fence sitters and not active leaders. While they tend to intelligently discuss what would be appropriately done in order to achieve better living condition for the people, many of them do not walk the talk. Some self-proclaimed environmental experts have very bright ideas on how to preserve and protect the environment but when you enter their respective houses in the cities and provinces, you will be surprised to see that their furnitures, panelings among others are made up of pine or narra which already negates their advocacies. On the other hand, many individuals claim to be anti-gambling advocates but if they go out of town, they usually play in casinos and even cockpits. We call these religious leaders, judges, active or retired, lawyers, professionals and ordinary people to be the great pretenders or hypocrites because they cannot actually walk the talk.

A good number of observers believe achieving a new hope in life is striving to achieve what we have planned irregardless of how difficult it would be as long as we are able to effectively and efficiently do it through our own concerted efforts. There is nothing wrong in hoping for what would be the best for everyone but we believe it would be best to work to realize such hope, exceed what we have hoped for and strive to sustain and continue exceeding it until we are able to gain success. In short, let us do it one step at a time for us to be able to climb the ladder of success. God has given everyone equal opportunity to quality life but he allowed us to be the ones to work for our destiny and not rely on pure luck alone for us to be able to move on to greater heights. While we need the help of others to be able to move on in life, the route to success is just around the corner, it is just the way we navigate that we differ, thus, let us always remain optimistic in life and not be frustrated by the obstacles that confront us. Let us use the obstacles as our vehicle to make us stronger and better people to live the way God wanted us to live on earth.
