TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Six families whose houses were damaged due to the earthquake that transpired on July 27, 2022 received P5,000.00 cash assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA) through its Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP).
The beneficiaries are Estrella Balnao (Bagumbayan), Virginia Manadao (Dupag), Francis Almora and Billy Waley (New Tanglag) and Joy Baruzo and Elorde Marcelino (Tuga).
The distribution was held at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) with representatives of the NHA-Region 2 led by Engr. Jocelyn Sunico, District Manager for Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga and Batanes (CAKB) District Office.
Sunico said that in Tabuk City, there were 44 reported incidents of partially- damaged houses during the earthquake based on the initial validation done by the CSWDO, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM), City Engineering Office (CEO), City Building and Architecture Office (CBAO) and the barangay, but only six were qualified for the EHAP.
She explained that the amount of assistance also depends on the extent of damage.
Present during the awarding of cash incentive were Henry Gupaal, Executive Assistant; CSWD Officer Susana Daluping; Marinel Dorgay, CSWD Focal person on Disaster Program; with other NHA- CAKB District Office representatives namely Marinelle Adriano, Acting Estate Management Chief; Joshua Salvador, Community Support Services Officer, Hasmin Marcos, Financial Planning Analyst and Jenilyn Bautita, Estate Management Assistant.
