LUNA, Apayao – The National Irrigation Administration-Apayao Irrigation Management Office (NIA-AIMO) conducted a stakeholders’ forum on May 23 at EKB Gymnasium, San Isidro Sur, Luna to provide updates on the irrigation associations (IAs) status under NIA-AIMO and address relevant issues and concerns.
Notable attendees included Vice Governor Remy Albano, Maria Luisa Luluquisen, Branch Manager of NFA-Matucay, and representatives from the Provincial Office of Agricultural Services (POAS), Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Agriculture, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, various Irrigation Associations from the seven municipalities, and an IA from Abulug, Cagayan.
During the forum, two exceptional IAs were recognized: the Lagac-Sta. Maria Irrigators Association Inc. in the Community Irrigation Systems category and the Namnama ti San Francisco Irrigators Association Inc. in the National Irrigation Systems category.
Furthermore, to prepare NIA’s Annual Plan and Budget, a joint planning workshop involving various departments, local government units, other government agencies, private sectors, and stakeholders will commence on May 24 at the same venue. By Krizza Joy Castillo
