BAGUIO CITY May 10 – A 29-year old Nigerian national studying nursing in a local school died after she was bumped by a speeding taxi in front of their school at Lower Magsaysay Avenue, here, Tuesday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Oreoluwa Tope Oyinloye, 29, Nigerian National, BS Nursing at AMA, Baguio City, and a resident of Aurora Hill, Baguio City while the suspect was named as Julio Goloyogo Balangue, 67, married, and a resident of Block 3 Middle Quirino Hill, Baguio City..
Initial police investigation showed the taxi came from a gasoline station and was maneuvering to go to the La Trinidad-bound lane of the road when it accidentally bumped the victim who was crossing the street.
Instead of stopping to help the victim who was already sprawled on the pavement, the taxi driver decided to speed down towards the Lower Magsaysay area where it again bumped another taxi driven by Roy Rogelio Singina Lacaben, 51, married, and a resident of Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet tht resulted to the two vehicles incurring heavy damages.
The victim was rushed by Private road Magsaysay punong barangay Debbie Saddot Banagui to the Pines City Doctors Hospital for medical treatment but she was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to serious head and body injuries.
The erring taxi driver was subsequently arrested and detained awaiting the filing of the appropriate charges against him before the city prosecutor’s office.
