DAGUPAN CITY —To ensure the safety of meat products and strengthen hygiene standards across the Ilocos Region, the National Meat Inspection Service-Regional Technical Operation Center in Region 1 (NMIS-ROTC 1) will hold a free seminar on the safe transportation of meat and meat by-products.
The event will take place on April 10, 2025, at the NMIS-RTOC 1 in Brgy. Anonas West, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
The seminar, which is intended for drivers, helpers, and operators of meat transport vehicles (MTVs), aims to equip attendees with the necessary knowledge and practical skills required to maintain proper hygiene and safety standards when transporting meat products.
According to Mario Agbanlog Jr., focal person for the Accreditation and Registration Section at NMIS Ilocos, this seminar is an essential step in raising awareness about the role that safe meat handling plays in the overall food safety chain.
“The transportation of meat is a delicate process. It’s crucial for meat transport personnel to know the proper handling, sanitation, and temperature control practices to prevent contamination and ensure the safety of consumers,” Agbanlog explained.
The seminar will be split into two sessions: one from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the other from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Each session is limited to just 20 participants to ensure quality interaction and individualized learning.
Due to this limitation, registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This seminar offers more than just a learning opportunity; it’s also a key to business compliance.
To be eligible for accreditation, participants must attend the seminar, which is a prerequisite for receiving the official NMIS sticker that certifies their trucks as registered.
Without this certification, trucks cannot legally transport meat products.
“Without attending the seminar, meat transport vehicles cannot be accredited, which means they will be prohibited from delivering goods,” Agbanlog stressed.
During the seminar, participants will dive into topics like sanitation processes, the importance of maintaining proper temperatures for frozen meat, and specific procedures that reduce the risk of contamination.
The training also covers the basic hygiene and safety measures required for trucks and the role that each member of the transport team plays in keeping meat safe from point A to point B.
Whether in the food industry or within logistics and transportation, the knowledge gained from the seminar can be a valuable asset to any professional looking to improve their qualifications.
Those interested in attending can easily register online at bit.ly/MTVSeminarRegistration.
The only requirement is to bring a ballpoint pen to the event.
