BONTOC, Mountain Province – The members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council of Mountain Province convened for its quarter meeting to provide updates on the peace and order situation of the province at the Multi-Purpose Hall on September 25, 2024 presided over by the Chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s Committee on Human Rights, Civil Defense and Peace and Order, Board Member Johnson D. Bantog II.
The following updates were reported during the meeting:
On Insurgency
Lieutenant Colonel Delfin Rean B. Ante, the new Battalion Commander of the 54th Infantry “Magilas” Battalion of the Philippine Army informed that the WKLG AMPIS was declared dismantled last December 7, 2023. He also said that there were no monitored activities of the communist terrorist groups in the province from 2023 to present.
On the Total Crime Incidents
Based on the audio-visual presentation of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, a total of 26 total crime incidents (TCI) were recorded to have happened in the province for the third quarter of this year (July 1 – September 15, 2024). This is one or 3.7% lower compared to the TCI last quarter (April 1 – June 15, 2024) which is 27.
Out of the 26 TCI this quarter, 12 fall under the public safety indicator while 14 fall under peace and order indicator.
On the Drug Situation
Through the joint effort of the Provincial Police Office, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) of the province, and other law enforcement agencies, three marijuana eradications, two search warrants and one warrant of arrest were successfully conducted and implemented in the province for the third quarter.
According to PDEA, Shabu remains to be the most abused drugs in the province.
From 2016 to 2024, there is a total of 535 drug personalities who surrendered of which 456 already completed their Rehabilitation and Wellness Program (RWP) while the remaining 79 did not yet undergo RWP.
On Fire Incidents
Fire Chief Inspector Mary Grace Balao-as, the Acting Provincial Fire Marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection – MP reported that there were three structural fires and one non-structural fire to have transpired in the province for the third quarter of 2024. She said that causes of these fire incidents include unattended lighted candles and unsupervised cooking. By Hail, MP
