BONTOC, Mountain Province January 31 – Acting immediately on an intelligence report, joint forces of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) and troops of the Philippine Army conducted an operation that resulted in the discovery of an arms cache of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) here recently.
Citing reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGen Mafelino A Bazar, police operatives of Mt. Province Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15) together with the troops of the Philippine Army launched the said operation that resulted in the discovery of an arms cache hidden in the mountainous area of Brgy. Mainit.
Seized during the operation were: one (1) piece improvised explosive device; one (1) piece upper M16 receiver (barrel); two (2) pieces of maps; fifty-one (51) pieces of cartridge (5.56 ball); one (1) M16 selector; one (1) M16 bolt; one (1) M16 forward assist; two (2) pieces of bolt cam pin; one (1) M16 plastic short magazine; and one (1) M16 hand guard.
Also, operatives seized assorted clothes, medical supplies, and personal belongings believed to be owned by members of the CTGs.
The recovered items were brought to the custody of the 1502nd Maneuver Company of RMFB15 in Tadian, Mt. Province for documentation and proper disposition.
Meanwhile, operating troops continue to search adjacent areas of the arms cache for the possible recovery of other explosive devices.
