BONTOC, Mountain Province – Presumptive Mayor Franklin Odsey will aggressively work on the necessary housekeeping in the municipal government once he assumes the town’s top post by noon of June 30, 2025.

The comebacking mayor admitted that there seems to be a lot to be done in the different offices of the municipal government that is why appropriate housekeeping should be done while working on the required executive-legislative agenda for the finalization of the short- medium and long term plans to elevate Bontoc’s status to a higher level.

He claimed that among the major priority programs that will be implemented by his administration will be the enhancement of the town’s tourism initiatives to significantly uplift the local tourism industry for it to be able to contribute in providing the people with sustainable employment, economic activities and alternative sources of livelihood.

Odsey vowed to also access the different livelihood programs being offered by concerned government agencies and align it with the current needs of the people for them to be provided with established livelihood projects that will contribute in improving the economic activities of people and for them to have long-term source of income for their families.

According to him, the completion of waterworks projects will also be one of his priorities considering that what he failed to complete in the past was not appropriately pursued, thus, the need to work out the immediate completion of the same to ensure the stable supply of water for the people in the capital town.

Odsey served as the town’s local chief executive from 2013-2022 and as the provincial administrator of Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasn, Jr. from July 1, 2022 up to October 1, 2024.

He assured the Bontoc people that he will serve the municipality with utmost dedication and sincerity adhering to the government’s policy on transparency, accountability and good governance so that the limited sources will be used for the benefit of the greater majority of the populace in the locality.

The incoming mayor also vowed to consult the various sectors in the municipality to ensure that all the priority development projects will be aligned with the town’s development plans that will translate to better opportunities for growth and development in the future.

He added that the municipal government will also endeavor to implement environmental preservation and protection projects to allow the rejuvenation of the town’s environment and allow the future generations to reap the fruits of a will preserved and protected environment and to lessen the impact of calamities to life and limb.

Odsey rallied the Bontoc people to support  his administration so that the local government will be able to successfully execute the programs and projects that were outlined during the campaign and for them to realize the importance of experience in running the affairs of the government, especially with the emergence of the rapid advancement of information and communication technology.

Odsey asserted that there will also be the enhancement of the delivery of quality basic services to the people through the various national and local initiatives that had been put in place so that everyone will be able to access the same to attend to their urgent needs and for the local government to be able to help them cope with their difficult situations.

He expressed his sincerest gratitude to the Bontoc people for bestowing their trust and confidence to him as their leader for the next years and that he will reciprocate such trust with unwavering and uncompromising service that will ensure that no Bontoc resident will be left behind in terms of accessing the various programs and projects of the government designed to help them cope with the difficult situation of their lives.
