PUDTOL, Apayao – A 36-year old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was hurt after he was repeatedly hacked by a 31-year old farm labourer during a heated altercation at Rosal, Cabatacan, here, recently.
Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Florencio S. Marantan Jr. alias Sino, 36, married, OFW while he named the suspect as Mar Jerome G. Penera alias Rechie, 31, married, farm labourer, both residents of Rosal, Cabatacan, Pudtol, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed the suspect saw the victim banging the door of their kitchen that prompted him to call his attention.
However, a heated altercation suddenly erupted between them until such time that the suspect grabbed an axe and hacked the victim several times while the victim was not able to use the knife that was in possession.
The victim, who sustained two hack wounds on his neck, one hack wound in his chest and multiple hack wounds on the different parts of his body, was rushed to the Ama Jadsac District Hospital before he was transferred to the Far North General Hospital and Training Center in nearby Luna town while responding police operatives were able to arrest the suspect.
The axe used by the suspect was turned over by his wife to the police operatives while the victim’s knife was recovered at the crime scene.
