Two Local Wushu Stars brought glory to the Philippines and brought home gold medals from China. Ken Alieson Omengan trumped the opposition for two golds while Spencer Bahod got one to contribute three of the country’s four-gold medal haul in the eighth edition of the Asian Junior Wushu Championships last August 6-9, 2015 in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia, China.
Omengan, from La Trinidad, defended his nanquan (southern fist) title and added the nandao (curved, one sided sword) gold. Bahod, also from La Trinidad, a first-timer in this tournament, bagged the gold in the taijijian 42 forms boys’ class. In addition, Aleca Breana Dumseng and Faith Liana Andaya, both from Baguio City, appeared at the podium for bronzes. Dumseng placed third in qiangshu (flexible spear) while Andaya did the same in jianshu.
The fourth gold was won by Agatha Chrystenzen Wong in her favorite taijijian 42 forms. It is her second in-a-row gold in this event.
