QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya – Rescuers were able to successfully extricate one of the survivors in a mine tunnel after he and his companions experienced lack of oxygen inside the tunnel at Runruno here late this afternoon.
The rescued survivor was named as Alfred Dulnuan Bilbli, a native of Maddela, Quirino while efforts are still being done to rescue his surviving companion Joval Bantiyan, also a native of Maddela, Quirino who remains trapped inside the tunnel but is reportedly alive.
However, their three companions who were trapped inside the said tunnel remain missing as of press time although search and rescue operations are still underway.
The missing miners were identified as Daniel Segundo Paggana, 47; Lipihon Ayudan y Bumulyad, 56 and Florencio Napudo Indopia, 63, all residents of Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya.
Bilibli was rescued alive at around 2 pm and was immediately rushed to the FCF Minerals Corporation clinic for medical treatment and was declared to have fully recovered from the tragic incident at around 4 pm.
Initial reports claimed that the trapped miners suffered from the alleged lack of oxygen inside the mine tunnel and that one of them was able to seek assistance from concerned residents who sought the aid of the authorities to conduct the search and rescue operation in the affected area.
