BONTOC, Mountain Province – Supply of poultry eggs in Barangay Mainit and in neighboring barangays will not be a problem in the ensuing months as an organization has ventured in egg poultry production as means of livelihood.
This, following the awarding of check amounting to P333, 472.00 by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) represented by Provincial Director Apollo R. Luspian to Bontoc Municipal Government represented by Bontoc Mayor Franklin C. Odsey. The awarding was witnessed by Labor and Employment Officer II Jenelyn W. Caluza from the Office of the Municipal Mayor, DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) Focal Person Mylene Palaleo and Rising Lingaling, a member of the Upper Mainit (WT) Organization.
Caluza said that Upper Mainit (WT) Organization has applied for Egg Poultry Production as a means of their livelihood under the DILEEP. It is implemented through DOLE’s Accredited Co- Partners (ACP) which is responsible for the delivery of services to the beneficiaries.
Thus, the Bontoc Municipal Government as an ACP of DOLE received the financial grant allotted to Upper Mainit (WT) Organization and shall be responsible for the procurement, purchase and delivery of the poultry chickens, supplies, equipment and materials needed by the organization for its Egg Poultry Production Livelihood.
As its counterpart, the municipal government has earmarked from its budget the amount of P75, 000.00 for the members of the Upper Mainit (WT) Organization to undergo training to ensure sustainability of their livelihood project. Apart from this, the municipal government thru the Office of the Municipal Mayor provided technical assistance to the recipient-organization in its preparation of the required documents to include evaluation of proposal and endorsement to the DOLE – Provincial Office.
Mayor Odsey who personally received the financial grant for Upper Mainit (WT) Organization expressed his gratitude to the DOLE for continuously assisting various organizations and capacitating them to generate income and augment the financial constraints of the member –beneficiaries.
For this year, Caluza shared that the Upper Mainit (WT) Organization was the second organization to avail of the said program. Earlier this year, the Project Proposal of the Bontoc Prior OFW Gospel Believer’s Organization’s to open and operate a Water Refilling Station was approved with a financial grant amounting to P484, 284.00. The same with the second organization, the counterpart of the municipal government was the provision of technical assistance, trainings and monitoring of the project.
Relative to this, the chief executive expressed optimism that more People’s Organization (POs) will be granted of livelihood and is hopeful that this would help in the betterment of the lives of the constituents most especially those who are unemployed.
To avail of the program, an organization must submit a Project Proposal; Certificate of Registration either from DOLE or Cooperative Development Authority (CDA); Beneficiary Profile; list of members; and profile of members with their photos. Also, they may visit the Office of the Municipal Mayor or the DOLE- Provincial Office for inquiries about the program. By Alpine L. Killa
