Clear eyes and bright smiles. This were what greeted the 12,206 beneficiaries of the medical, dental and optical outreach missions spearheaded by retired Philippine National Police Director Benjamin Magalong at the rooftop of Abanao Square last Thursday.
Ongoing already for the past four weeks, most of those who benefitted – numbering 5,681 – availed of free medical checkups and free medicines.
These were followed by those who availed of free optical checkups and free pairs of eyeglasses, numbering 2,715, and by the 1,260 who received free massages and another 954 who got free haircuts.
Most of those who showed their bright smiles were the 948 who got fitted with free dentures and another 648 who had free dental extractions.
It will be recalled in earlier news reports that the group led by Magalong, along with their counterparts in MediKalinga and the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc., are going the rounds of Baguio’s 20 districts to serve patients and various beneficiaries who are either hard up or who cannot afford regular medical and dental checkups.
Along with these, they also were provided free medicines, free massages and free haircuts, as part of their Christmas gift giving this holiday season.
This outreach program will continue to run in different districts of Baguio City every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until mid-January 2019.
