LUNA, Apayao – More than 253 residents in Sacpil, Conner recently received free medical services through Project BUTSY.
The Provincial Health Office and the Apayao Provincial Hospital (APH) made possible the provision of circumcision (30 beneficiaries), dental services (35), fluoride treatment (35), feeding (43), medical and pharmacy services on November 14, 2024.
Additionally, the Fred Hollows Foundation Eye Care team which joined the event offered free vision screenings serving 83 residents and given free eyeglasses thereby improving their vision.
The services rendered were part of the ongoing efforts of Project Butsy to reach out to far flung areas needing medical attention.
The Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RFMB) 1505th Company and 98th Infantry Battalion (IB) likewise joined and gave free haircuts, while Board Member Kyle Bulut-Cunan led the distribution of tumblers and school supplies to 262 children.
To make the event more enjoyable and engaging for the residents, the organizers initiated activities such as parlor games with various prizes.
The successful conduct of the program was attributed to the hard work and dedication of the APH personnel, their partners, and the support of Barangay Sacpil officials and Bulut-Cunan, who provided essential needs for the residents.
The Barangay Health Workers, staff from the RMFB 1505th, 98th IB Company, Sangguniang Bayan Jayson M. Loyon, donors and professional health workers also contributed to the program’s success.
The Project Butsy is aligned with the vision of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr.’s healthcare program, which aims to provide high-quality healthcare services to all yApayaos, particularly those in rural areas where medical services are limited. By Joyce Arian Soria
