Three individuals will now be facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were arrested in a separate anti-illegal drugs operation in Benguet and Mountain Province on May 2, 2022.
Citing the reports reaching the Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the arrested suspects were identified as Ramon Mattew Mangalile, 21; Cherwien Tangaro, 26; and Leopoldo Cachero Jr., 36.
According to Bontoc Municipal Police Station, they received information from a confidential informant that two individuals were transporting illegal drugs on board a bus from Kalinga Province bound to Bontoc, Mountain Province.
Acting on the information, joint operatives of PDEA Mountain Province, Bontoc MPS, and Sadanga MPS proceeded to the terminal at Sepulchre Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Bontoc, to check the veracity of the information which turned out to be positive.
The quick police response resulted in the arrest of suspects Mangalile and Tangaro, both residents of Baliuag, Bulacan.
Seven (7) pieces of tubular form and seven (7) pieces of zip locks containing dried marijuana leaves weighing more or less 6.095 kilograms with a standard drug price of Php 731,400.00 were seized from their possession.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Barangay Wangal, La Trinidad, joint operatives of La Trinidad MPS and Regional PNP Drug Enforcement Unit arrested suspect Cachero Jr. after he sold one plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.25 grams with an SDP of Php 1,700.00 to an operative acting as a poseur-buyer.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of the respective operating units for documentation and proper disposition.
