FLORA, Apayao – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Apayao celebrated Migrant Workers Day at the Efren U. De San Jose Sports Gymnasium on July 2, 2024.
Themed “Sa OWWA, Migranteng Manggagawang Pinoy, Kayo ang Bida,” the event honored the contributions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.
The highlight of the celebration was the search for Taer ti Apayao OFW 2024. Sta. Maria Punong Barangay Ferick Roque, Flora’s candidate, won the title and the Best in Talent and Best in Formal Attire awards. James Paul Rambayon and Roberto Manuel were named first and second runners-up, respectively, with Manuel also receiving the Most Articulate award.
Teudolfo Brual secured third runner-up, while John Paul Masiba earned a consolation prize for Best in Isnag/Apayao Attire.
Notable officials attending the event included Mayor Rodolfo B. Juan, Vice Mayor Jeofrey T. Blas, and Sangguniang Bayan Members Genevieve Cacacho, Godfrey Balderama, and Manny Biggayan.
The celebration acknowledges the accomplishments of Filipino migrant workers and serves as a forum to raise awareness about OWWA’s programs and services tailored to their needs. By Michelle Acantilado
