PUDTOL, Apayao – The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, the Provincial Treasury Office (PTO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Assessor’s Office and Municipal Assessor’s Office disbursed a total of PhP360,000 to the beneficiaries of Tax for Work Program on October 8, 2024 held at the Municipal Hall.
Some eighty taxpayers from Pudtol are the recent beneficiaries of the said program. Under this program, participants work for 10 days, with half (50%) of their wages going to payment of their taxes. This offers a practical solution to their financial obligations.
Jeanete Bautista of the Provincial Treasury Office explained that “yung may mga Delinquent RPT ang kinukuha po nilang beneficiaries to work, Delinquent is yung mga may utang po sa real property tax nila,” adding that “…ang kagandahan po ng program na ito ay para po makabayad sila ng RPT.”
Ernesto Pugyao, 80 years-old from Cacalaggan Pudtol and a farmer, is one of the beneficiaries of the Tax for Work . In an interview, he said he was thankful of the opportunity given him, ” agyaman nak ta maysa nak nga napili nga ag Tax for Work tapno adda pagbayad ko ti amiliar ko iti daga ken paggatang mi ti agas mi ken baket ko ta duw-duwa kami met lang nga agkab- kabbalay.”
The Tax for Work Program in Apayao is one of the solutions of some problems regarding payment of real property taxes. It also braces the province’s pursuit of sustainable socio – economic growth through the PGO-ASENG via the LUSA Program.
The Tax for Work program emerged as a comprehensive solution, designed to effectively engage and uplift the targeted community while currently encouraging compliance with tax obligation. By Michelle Acantilado
