LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government has awarded a total of P1,563,000.00 financial grant to 521 students(who hails from western Pangasinan) under the joint scholarship program of Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. and the 1st Congressional District recentlyat the Provincial Training and Development Center (PTDC) here.
Board Member Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III, who represented the governor, said the scholarship assistance is a manifestation of support from the provincial government in its objective to provide human capital formation programs for the youth.
The young Espino disclosed that acquiring education is considered as an achievement of every individual that gives pride to his or her family.
As a challenge, BM Pogi asked the scholars to dedicate their achievement and pride to their respective communities even as he stated that there is no greater glory than to return all favors received to the barangay.
“Ito ay magandang pagkakataon upang maiangat ang sarili at pamilya at tumulong sa barangay sa abot ng makakaya,” BM Pogi said.
As per record, the Espino administration supports a total of 2,240 scholars, as follows: 1,250 provincial scholars enrolled at the Pangasinan State University; Provincial Scholarship Fund Board (PSFB) scholarship which includes 405academic scholars, 30 National Commission on Indigenous peoples (NCIP) scholars, and 12 Federation of Pangasinan Muslim Association (FPMA).
Meanwhile, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr., who joined BM Espino in the awarding rites, appealed to the scholars to ‘give value’ on the grant that was given to them as he said that ‘no matter how small the grant is, its value is worth the realization of their dreams.’
