LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents successfully seized more than P1.2 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested a drug personality in separate intensified anti-illegal drug operations in Benguet and Baguio City over the weekend.
In Benguet, a marijuana eradication operation conducted by anti-illegal drugs operatives of Kibungan MPS, PIU/PDEU-Benguet PPO, RID-PRO Cordillera, and PDEA-CAR led to the discovery and destruction of approximately 12,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks with a Standard Drug Price of P1,440,000.00 in Brgy. Tacadang, Kibungan.
Further, joint operatives from Bakun Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PIU/PDEU), Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and PDEA-CAR eradicated 750 fully grown marijuana plants with a SDP of P150,000.00 in barangay Kayapa, Bakun.
All the discovered marijuana plants were burned after proper documentation, while a few samples were taken to the Regional Forensic Unit for qualitative tests.
Meanwhile, in Baguio City, a successful buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives from Police Station 3 of Baguio CPO, City Drug Enforcement Unit, City Intelligence Unit, City Investigation and Detective Management Unit, and PDEA-CAR resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old male drug dealer. The suspect, identified as a Street Level Individual, was apprehended in Purok 6, barangay Gibraltar, after selling one sachet of suspected shabu weighing approximately 1 gram, with an estimated value of P6,800, to an undercover operative.
The seized evidence was inventoried on-site in the presence of the suspect and insulating witnesses. After which, both the suspect and the confiscated drugs were taken to Police Station 3 for documentation and proper disposition, while charges for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspect.
