TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office of the Department of Public works and Highways was able to secure mover P1 billion worth of infrastructure projects for the varius roads, bridges and flood control projects within its jurisdiction for this year.
Engr. Ireneo S. Gallato, Lower Kainga district engineer, said some P599.72 million worth of projects will be undertaken by the district office while some P415.21 million worth of projects will be undertaken by the regional office within the jurisdiction of the district office for this year to help boost the infrastructure development in the towns of Pinukpuk, Rizal and Tabuk City for this year.
“We are elated that we were able to get substantial amounts for our priority projects in the district for this year to help in the development of major roads, bridges and flood control projects within our areas of jurisdiction.”Gallato stressed.
The district enginner said some 5 projects for the rehabilitation, reconstruction, uprading of damaged national roads, including drainage based on pavement management system were funded to the tune of P88.78 million while 6 projects for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of national roads with slips and slope collapse and landslide were also given funding amounting to P98.98 million.
Further, Gallato added some 4 projects for the upgrading of roads from unpaved to paved based on gravel road strategies were also given funding in the amount of P86.35 million
For bridge projects, he claimed some 19 projects for the construction and maintenance of bridge along national roads and rehabilitation and major repair of permanent bridges were given an allocation of P69.71 million while 2 projects for the replacement of permanent weak brdiges were funded in the amount of P20.7 million.
According to him, 1 project for the retrofitting and strengthening of permanent bridge was funded in the amount of P3.2 million while 1 project for the widening of permanent bridges, incuding road-right-of-way, to be able to be convered to more than two lanes was also funded with the amount of P28 million.
For flood control projects, Gallato said 1 project for the management of flood mitigation structures and drainage system was funded with P73 million while 8 projects for the construction of revetmentand enbanckment dike and chanelling and widening along the Chico river was initially funded with P100 million while 22 projects under the province’s local infrastructure program was given the amount of P31 million.
Gallato expreseed confidence that the Lower kalinga District Engineering Office will be able to effectively and efficiently implement the programmed projects for this year so that the agency will be convinced to provide more funding support for the implementation of more infrastructure projects provincewide in the future.
