LAGAWE, Ifugao – The Provincial School Board (PSB) has approved recently P15.392-million for the Special Education Fund (SEF) annual budget for 2015 and appropriated more than 14-million to help in achieving quality education in the province.
Said amount was derived from the share of the one percent real property tax of the province available for appropriation of the PSB as certified by the provincial treasurer.
Of the SEF annual budget, the amount of P14,660,580 is appropriated to finance the different plans and programs of the board that include personal services, maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE) and capital outlay.
The balance of P731,420.00 shall be the subject of the first supplemental budget to defray the stipend of SEF teachers from June to December 2015 based on needs or number of enrolment.
SEF comes from a 1% tax on the assessed value of real property in addition to the basic real property tax imposed by local government units as allowed under the Local Government Code. This is automatically released to local school boards and may be used in the maintenance of public schools, construction and repair of school buildings and facilities, educational research, purchase of books and periodicals, and in sports development.
