LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P2.3 million worth of marijuana plants were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during a one-day simultaneous marijuana eradication operations in Kalinga and Benguet recently.
In Kalinga, 9,000 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) and 1,200 marijuana seedlings with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP1,848,000.00 were discovered by the joint operatives of Rizal Municipal Police Station (MPS), Tinglayan MPS, 1st Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Kalinga in barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan and barangay Romualdez, Rizal.
Meanwhile, in Benguet, 2,550 fully grown marijuana plants with an Standard Drug Price of P510,000.00 were found by the joint forces of Bakun MPS, Kibungan MPS, PDEU and Provincial Intelligence Unit of Benguet PPO, Regional Intelligence Division of PRO CAR, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and PDEA-CAR in Brgy. Badeo, Kibungan and barangay Kayapa, Bakun.
All discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site, with sufficient samples collected for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR. Investigations are actively being conducted to locate other marijuana plantation sites in the surrounding areas and to apprehend those responsible for the cultivation.
These successful operations highlight the steadfast commitment of PRO CAR in combating illegal drug activities and upholding public safety across the region.
