LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents successfully arrested three drug personalities and confiscated and destroyed more than P2.6 million worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-illegal drug operations in the different parts of the Cordillera recently.
In Benguet, three marijuana plantation sites planted with 8,700 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) and 375 pieces of marijuana seedlings with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P1,755,000.00 were discovered by the operatives from the different units of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO), Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Intelligence Unit-14 (RIU-14), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the municipalities of Bakun, Kapangan, and Kibungan.
On the other hand, in Kalinga, additional 4,500 pieces of FGMJP with an SDP of P900,000.00 were discovered by joint operatives of Kalinga PPO and PDEA-Kalinga in barangay Butbut Proper, Tinglayan.
The discovered marijuana plants were documented, uprooted, and burned on-site, while enough samples were taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR.
Meanwhile in Ifugao, the joint operatives from the different units of Ifugao PPO and PDEA-Ifugao arrested a 44-year-old male listed as a Regional Target following the implementation of a search warrant. The operation led to the seizure of two sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 1.5 grams with an SDP of P10,240.00 in the suspect’s residence in Barangay Pugol, Lamut.
Similarly, another search warrant implemented by joint operatives of the Abra PPO, RMFB15, RIU-14, RID of PRO-CAR, and PDEA-Abra in Barangay Gaddani, Tayum, Abra led to the arrest of a 25-year-old male listed as a Street Level Individual and the confiscation of three sachets of suspected shabu weighing 0.8 grams with an SDP of P5,440.00
Further, in Baguio City, a 32-year-old female listed as No. 8 Top Most Wanted Person in the City Level of Baguio City Police Office (CPO) for the 4th Quarter of 2024 was arrested in San Luis Village by the joint operatives of Baguio CPO, RID of PRO-CAR and RIU-14 by virtue of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were taken into the custody of the lead operating units for documentation and proper disposition. The suspects will be facing charges for violation of R.A. 9165. By Dexter A. See
