ITOGON, Benguet – A P20 million super health center will be constructed in the municipality to boost the effective and efficient delivery of health care services to the people living in the town’s nine barangays.
Mayor Bernard S. Waclin said that the said health facility will be constructed in sitio Malasin, barangay Ucab or adjacent the Itogon dialysis center and other public structures to contribute in providing accessible health centers where people could seek the appropriate medical advice for their illnesses.
He added that the construction of the super health center may start anytime considering that the documents and the funding requirements have already been made available to ensure the timely implementation of the government project.
One of the major projects of the health department is the put up of well equipped super health centers in various parts of the country to ensure the accessibility of quality health care services to the people living in remote communities around the country.
“We are grateful to the various government agencies for including Itogon as one of their priority areas in the allocation of resources and as host to vital facilities that will greatly contribute in improving the delivery of quality basic services to the people on the ground. We assure our partners that we will do our part in ensuring the proper utilization of the facilities that will be provided to the local government,” Mayor Waclin stressed.
The local government provided the required lot for the construction of the super health center that paved the way for the health department in coordination with the office of Rep. Eric Yap to allocate the funds for the said project.
Earlier, the municipal spearheaded the put up of the Itogon dialysis center in partnership with the private sector in the municipality that saw the rise of the 12-bed facility that is now providing free hemodialysis treatment to some 40 kidney patients from the different barangays.
The local chief executive likened the project to the real private-public partnership where the local government earmarked initial funds for the realization of the put up of the facility while the private sector peopled their available resources that completed the required 12 beds, provided for the generator and the ambulances being used to ferry the patients from their residences to the facility and vice versa.
Waclin envisioned the local government to have its own dialysis treatment center to provide free treatment to dialysis patients from the different parts of the municipality and to help decongest the existing dialysis treatment centers in nearby Baguio City where it was realized a year after assuming the town’s mayoralty post in July 2022.
He assured the dialysis patients and the members of their families that the local government is doing its best to source out the needed resources that would sustain the provision of free dialysis treatment for them and provide additional services of the facility in the future.
Itogon is one of the five first class towns in the province and one of the three municipalities heavily relying on mining as their major source of income to sustain the delivery of basic services and guarantee the implementation of high impact development projects in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
