TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Three drug personalities were arrested while over P25 million worth of marijuana were destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during separate anti-illegal drug operations in the different parts of the province recently.
In Tabuk City, three male drug personalities, one listed as a High Value Individual and two listed as Street Level Individuals, were arrested during the interdiction operation conducted by the operatives of Tabuk City Police Station (CPS), 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFC), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Kalinga PPO, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15), Regional Intelligence Division of PRO-CAR, PNP-Special Action Force, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Kalinga in Brgy. Bulanao.
According to the reports, the operation was launched after the police received an information regarding the transportation of marijuana bricks by a vehicle, identified as a blue Haima MPV, and two motorcycles from Tinglayan, Kalinga.
This resulted in the arrest of the suspects after a total of 192 bricks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic weighing approximately 192 kilograms with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P23,040,000.00 were discovered from the said vehicle.
The suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Tabuk CPS for documentation and proper disposition. The suspects will be facing charges for violation of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, in Tinglayan, 10,500 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants with an SDP of P2,100,000.00 were discovered in barangay Loccong during the marijuana eradication operation conducted by the joint operatives of 1st Kalinga PMFC, Tinglayan MPS, PIU and PDEU of Kalinga PPO, RMFB15, and PDEA-Kalinga.
All the discovered marijuana plants were documented, uprooted, and burned on-site, with enough samples taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR. By Dexter A. See
